Episode 180. The Markers of Success are Shifting- Here's Proof from a Centennial
Be honest - how do you assess people online, when you’re scoping them out?
I had a very interesting conversation with a young man from Ireland on my plane ride back from London. He was a centennial approximately 23 years old, and we got into the topic of metaphysics and spirituality. He mentioned that he was interested to know more about these topics and so I ended up referring him to somebody I know. I gave him the Instagram account, and gave a quick disclaimer: I told him that this lady is not actively posting on Instagram but usually responds when someone DMS.
And his response shook me, and made the think about our definition or perception of success. What are we looking at when we assess people online? Do we check their follower count? Their Instagram aesthetic? Or how much they earn? Do we check their lifestyles, the size of their houses, the cars they drive?
In this episode, I'll be sharing with you a few questions that you may use to ponder on your own markers for success. And I share these questions with you to help you think about the beliefs that you're carrying about what constitutes these markers of success, and to help you redefine your own definition of what it really means to be successful in your business and in your personal life.
