Episode 155 transcript:
00:04 We are 10 days away from Black Friday. This episode's coming out November 15th, Black Friday is next Friday, the 25th. So in today's episode, I am gonna share with you an easy Black Friday offer that can be applied to any business. 00:25 But first, a quick note that I want you to stay tuned. I have some Black Friday exciting things coming. I have something brand new that I'm releasing on or before Black Friday, and I'll have something special for some of my existing and former courses. 00:46 And stay tuned. I'll be sharing more about my offers through my business on Instagram and next week on the podcast. 00:54 So now what about you and your business on Black Friday? For a full experience and explanation of the way that I view this shopping season as a business owner, you're gonna wanna go back and re-listen to last year's episode. 01:12 So last year for Black Friday, episode 1 0 9, I did 15 ideas for your Birth business, which was actually a repurposed episode from the year before because the content was just really good and evergreen. 01:25 It feels like it applies every year. So why recreate that first year? It felt very potent and like it had this magic, Ah, yes, that's what it is. 01:35 It was like a time capsule of this really magical Black Friday experience that I had and the energy I was in in 2020. 01:42 So Black Friday of 2020 is when I released the Digital Doulas content toolkit and it blew up in a good way. 01:50 And so the energy that was in that original podcast episode that I brought back last year, and I'm gonna again refer you back to listen to is potent. 02:02 So I highly recommend listening to that episode again, but then this year I'm gonna bring in something new. So you can consider this year's episode today as an add-on or an alternative, particularly if it's late in the game, which it is. 02:20 And you don't have the capacity to create an entire brand new thing to sell, because honestly, what I don't want you to do at this point in the year or ever really is force yourself into this very, very tricky time crunch. 02:33 I don't like pressure, I don't like being forced to create creative juices. Don't always, you can't force it, right? I had a client this this month, we were actually still right smack in the middle of Seven Figure Strategy and one of the members of seven Figure Strategy, of which, by the way, you can still get in, I'll, I'll keep a link in the show notes for you if you wanna check that out. 02:55 But one of my clients in there called this Content constipation, she refers to, we were talking about creative juices and creating content specifically, and she calls this content constipation. 03:07 I thought that was really funny and clever. So shout out, Stacy, if you're listening. But the truth is, it's really tricky to force yourself to have creative energy flowing. 03:18 It comes and it, at least for me, I've noticed that it comes and it goes in waves. And so if you're not in a creative space right now, or you had a, you have a lot of life happening right now, or you have things that you're preparing or you just don't, for whatever reason, don't have the capacity to go out and build an entire new thing, please don't think you need to do that at this point. 03:39 It really might be pushing it. So unless you have the desire to do so, or you get this wild creative flow, and that old episode might do that to you, just gonna put that out there. 03:51 Going back and listening to episode 1 0 9, which was originally episode 55, but 1 0 9 is nice because it has a updated intro, might stir something in you. 04:05 And so if that happens and you get a creative burst and you feel like, Oh my gosh, this is something they need, I gotta make this right now, by all means. 04:14 But if you're like many others and you're like, Dang, here I am 10 days before Black Friday and I haven't gotten my ducks in a row, I have something for you. 04:23 I thought about it this morning when I was shopping, Okay? I'm an online shopper. I shop online and there's one particular website that has these amazing things that I look at and I wanna buy their clothing. 04:35 And oftentimes when I click the item, it's like, this available, This is available for pre-order. And it got me thinking, what if you create a pre-sale or a pre-order for your next new thing? 04:53 Now it will be helpful to know what the thing is that you want to, to sell. So what experience do you desire to take your community on? 05:01 It could be helpful for you to start to sketch that out. What will this experience entail? What are the features? 05:08 What are the benefits? Are there, is it a class? Are there modules? Is it a private support container? Is at a group program? 05:15 What's the cost and what's the start date? Don't overcomplicate this. Try to simplify if possible. Maybe it's just something super fun that you're pre-selling any one of the 15 things that you, that I listed in episode 1 0 9. 05:30 But the beauty here is you don't have to have it done. It doesn't have to be done. It doesn't have to be ready. 05:36 It just has to be ready enough to have the bones, the the structure to know enough information about it so that you can communicate that with your people on the internet or wherever you are connecting with people. 05:51 And if you're into the product business and you sell products, can you create pre-orders if you haven't already made them? 05:59 Let's say you create candles and oh, there's a particular candle company that I love in Tampa. She makes her own candles. 06:08 They're all no artificial fragrance, very natural with high quality essential oils for fragrance. And I, I just love her business. 06:19 So Tag Blue Sage Boutique in Tampa. But she tends to have low quantities. So I actually went on her website this week and like probably bought her out of a lot of her candles because my kids' teachers are getting her candles. 06:31 I love the opportunity to support a business a woman to own business, a black owned women, black women owned business, local, all of the things. 06:43 And so, but she, I think she makes small quantities because when I order online, it tends to be small and I, yeah, I just bought her out. 06:50 So if she's listening, which she probably isn't, I don't even know if she knows who I am. But that would be a great example of can you create pre-orders for your product? 06:59 You know, she's probably backed up now because I just bought, I don't know, 20 of her candles maybe. And so can for a business like that. 07:07 Or if she doesn't have the time to make a bunch of new candles before Black Friday, maybe she would pre-order, or that's an example of how you could create a pre-order for a product and you can sell the pre-order on Black Friday and then, and just kind of give people an approximate window of when it would be available and or shipping, right? 07:26 So like, will I still be able to get it by the holidays? If not, can I have a picture of it so that I can print the picture and give it to my my loved ones? 07:35 And that's another little hack. If you create stuff that you won't have ready for people by the holidays, educate your potential clients and your clients on how to gift their loved ones, one of your products, and still support your business without having the actual thing in hand yet. 07:54 Educate them about printing it out or maybe send them a printed postcard of items. Okay? Now in terms of like, one quick thing I wanna mention before we wrap up is you might wanna limit your presale price or offer to Black Friday only, but you could also extend it through Cyber Week. 08:15 So Cyber Week has become arguably bigger than like just Black Friday. Black Friday. I think some people are just like, Eh, I'll get to the shopping when I get to it. 08:24 Those prices are gonna be good all next week anyway, because we have this beautiful thing called the internet that we can use almost, almost free, right? 08:31 Like we do pay for wifi and we pay for the device that we're using it on. But if you're listening to this, my hunch is that you can, you can afford the luxury truly that is the internet. 08:43 So you could extend your pricing through Cyber week or you could extend it through the end of the year, because why not? 08:52 Unless you're on a specific time crunch for something, Why not? There really are no rules here this year. I've seen companies offering and promoting their Black Friday specials as early as November 1st, and I know that there are gonna be companies that extend their specials through December 31st. 09:09 Haven't we all as consumers kind of figure that out? We're like, they're actually not a rush. So that's another thing that's helpful to remember. 09:19 If you feel like, Oh my gosh, my thing just won't be ready by 1125, that's okay. There's also Saturday, there's also Sunday, there's also Cyber Monday, which is huge, all of cyber week. 09:30 And then of course in December, just the whole month of December, a lot of companies will do just fun things. 09:38 Fun things because it's a fun time to sell and it's a fun time to buy if you can, right? Like it is fun. 09:44 It's fun to invest and buy things in December. I love investing in buying and supporting small businesses. I caught myself using the word I've been trying not to say small supporting privately owned, independent local, woman owned, mother owned, whenever possible black owned businesses. 10:06 And why not boost their sales during December when they're trying to do the same. So we are kind of creating our own little economies over here, and very soon it's not gonna be little relative to the rest of the world. 10:20 All right, That's it. Did it land? What did you think? What are your takeaways? What are you gonna do? I'd love to hear what you decide after listening to this episode and episode 1 0 9. 10:31 So per usual, my dms are open on Instagram. Shoot me a message if you feel called to, and just tell me like, did this episode land for you? 10:39 Did it stir something up? Did listening to episode 1 0 9 with the 15 ideas for your birth business, did it stir something up? 10:45 And also, as an aside, a lot of those items from episode 1 0 9, the idea is the 15 ideas for your birth business, they can be applied to other businesses. 10:54 So if you're not in the birth industry, I would still recommend listening to that and just adjusting some of the words for some of the words that are more relevant to your industry. 11:06 Okay, friends, I will see you in my dms.
